Breathing, Breathwork and Pranayama:

Breathing: The Master Key to Self Healing

totally changed my life. I was so stressed out from running a small service business around D.C. that my breathing was all out of whack. Dr. Weil taught me how to breathe correctly which has done wonders for my life in every possible way (they don’t teach this stuff in school!).

Pranayama is a powerful Yogic practice involving breath control and breathing in different patterns; it’s a super powerful technology which can facilitate positive changes on every level; like with all forms of physical exercise, overexertion can be dangerous, please proceed with caution.

A fine starting point for the scientifically minded is the book: “Prana And Pranayama” by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati.

I’m sure there are some fine teachers on YouTube who could guide you through exercises.

Alternating Nostril Breathing is one of my favorite ways to reset my physiology when I’m feeling especially stressed, anxious or angry. It’s a practice that can be performed very quickly (minutes) with immediate benefits (warning, don’t breathe and drive!).

There is so much more to write but this should get you started and probably keep you busy for a few lifetimes.
